If it appears that no appointments are available on a given day, it is either outside of our business hours or a day that we are fully booked. Please email writing@csusm.edu if you have questions or need assistance.

Our Services

  • Get Help Quick

    In our OWC Quick Help channel, a staff member will answer questions about appointments, grammar, word choice, formatting, and more. Learn more about Quick Help.
    Note: Quick Help does not count toward visit requirements.

    Download the Teams app and ask questions when they occur to you. No appointment needed!

    If you post a question when we are closed, we will reply during our open hours.

    Reserve up to 50-minutes at a time with a tutor. Meet with us in-person or online!

    You can also walk-in. Sessions are available on a first come, first served basis.

  • Submit a Paper for Feedback

    *This service does not satisfy Writing Center visit requirements. 

    With this service, you can submit your work and your specific concerns. All requests are placed in a limited waitlist, and our tutors work to provide feedback in a timely manner. (Facilitated through MS Word online)

September

  • 9/21 - 9/25: Hobbit Day
    • Celebrate The Lord of the Rings with decor and fun facts at the Writing Center all week in honor of the shared birthday of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins.

October

  • 10/1 12:00pm - 1:00pm: Structuring Your Paper
    • Virtual workshop that reviews how to create and maintain organization within your writing. Open to all CSUSM students.

  • 10/3 12:00pm - 3:00pm: GEW Saturday Workshop
    • Support from tutors, tangible resources, and fellow GEW students in the form of presentations and guided work time in the Writing Center.
    • Lunch provided! (while supplies last) All students currently taking GEW are welcome.
  • 10/6 12:00pm - 2:00pm: GEW Office Hours
    • Work time at the Writing Center with access to support from GEW instructors and Writing Center tutors.

    • Visit the Writing Center or check out our Instagram (@lts_csusm) for prompts and activities!
  • 10/22 12:00pm - 1:00pm: Poetry Workshop
    • Talk about the art of writing poetry, and take home a free poetry book! (while supplies last) Open to all CSUSM students.
    • This event is a collaboration with the amazing librarians at Kellogg Library.
  • 10/26 - 10/30: Scary Story Writing Contest

November

  • 11/3 6:00pm - 9:00pm: GEW After Hours Workshop
    • Support from tutors, tangible resources, and fellow GEW students in the form of presentations and guided work time in the Writing Center.

  • 11/9 12:00pm - 1:00pm: Source Synthesis & Integration
    • Virtual workshop that reviews how to synthesize (not just summarize) your sources, and then how to effectively integrate them into your paper. Open to all CSUSM students.

  • 11/16 6:00pm - 9:00pm: GEW After Hours Workshop
    • Support from tutors, tangible resources, and fellow GEW students in the form of presentations and guided work time in the Writing Center.

    • Get some work done with the support of Writing Center tutors, other students, and tanglible resources.
    • Support for all formatting styles available, with an emphasis on MLA and APA formatting. Open to all CSUSM students.
