Graduate Assistantship

A Graduate Assistantship (GA) is an academic support role in which a graduate student assists a faculty member with various professional and research-related tasks. Typical responsibilities include providing technical assistance, evaluating student work, conducting data collection, performing literature reviews, and supporting other research efforts.

This role is competitive, with applicants needing a bachelor’s degree, enrollment in the CSUSM SMBA program, and solid knowledge in their area of study. Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are also essential.

The SMBA Graduate Assistant Pool opens as early as the semester before the anticipated GA appointment. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so students are encouraged to apply early to ensure their application is ready for review as soon as positions become available.
