Sheila’s career journey has taken her from the San Diego Zoo Safari Park’s education department to High Tech High and now CSUSM. Her curiosity led her to work as an Agent de Vin at SD/Temecula wineries, explore rugged stone landscapes (Madagascar'sTsingy), and venture into impenetrable forests (Bwindi, Uganda).

A dedicated volunteer, Sheila is equally committed to family, friends and mentorship. Her constant creativity shines both within and beyond the workplace.

I drew inspiration from the ambiance of a dimly lit room and the lively chaos of family life. My objective was to create a metaphorical window that would infuse brightness, evoke tranquility, and bring joy to the viewer. As a result, this piece has sparked a recurring motif of hidden poppies across my various works, from canvases to door plates.
