The amphitheater is a unique space in that it is the only formal outdoor performance area at CSUSM. The amphitheater can seat around 400 people. One unique aspect is that the stage level at bottom of the amphitheater connects to the ballroom. It is possible for an unique event to utilize both spaces either simultaneously, or have an event in the amphitheater and have people flow into the ballroom for the post celebration or reception.
The activity center provides fun activities for you participate in both inside the USU and out in the community. The center features table games, console gaming and discount ticket sales. The Ballroom is 9,000 sq ft and is the largest indoor programming space on the CSUSM campus. The room also has operable walls that can divide the space into as many as 4 smaller spaces to accommodate a variety of events both large and small. The full ballroom can seat approximately 450 guests banquet style and close to 1,000 lecture style depending on setup. Learn how to reserve this space.
The Commuter Lounge is located on the first floor adjacent to the USU entrance from Chavez Circle. This space was created to provide resources for students who have needs as they arrive before going about their day on campus. It includes microwaves, vending, a sink, shower and nearby lockers. The Serenity Lounge is located in the east side of the 4th floor. It is a quiet and tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of campus activities. The space may be used for any form of mediatation, prayer or personal reflection. The Serenity Lounge is a technology-free area so as to promote a peaceful and quiet environment for all users. Silence and mutual respect are expected at all times. As such, photography is strictly prohibited. The space and its resources are operated on a first come, first served basis.
