Please Note: In August 2008, a new rooming house ordinance went into effect in the City of San Marcos. This may affect you if you are renting a home in San Marcos. Please be aware that the City of San Marcos limits the number of leases that can be held on a single family home property. Homes can only have fewer than five leases or rental agreements. Otherwise, the home is considered a commercial endeavor, which is prohibited. The City has a section on its Website about the new ordinance. Please take a moment and visit Rooming House Ordinance to familiarize yourself with the information. Also please visit the Good Neighbor Guidelines for valuable information.
