SNEC- Professional Advancement Travel Committee

Committee and Election Details

Term of Appointment: Until final funding recommendations are submitted
Positions available: 2

The PATR committee is asking for a 1-year commitment to serve as the Professional Advancement Travel Resource representative.  Work occurs once a year and includes judging applications for professional advancement travel resources using the provided rubric, then providing recommendations to the Dean of the Office of Graduate Studies and Research (OGSR). The time commitment is approximately 4-8 hours per year for judging applications and 1-2 hours for meetings scheduled according to staff availability.  Work will begin in late April and continue until final funding recommendations are submitted.  

The Professional Advancement Travel Resource Committee has four primary charges: 

  • Review submitted applications.  
  • Work within the evaluation framework provided by the Office of Graduate Studies and Research (OGSR) to rank applicants for funding.   
  • Aim to fully fund the highest rated applications. 
  • Provide final recommendations to Dean, OGSR.   

Composition of Committee 
PATR evaluators will include students, faculty, and non-MPP staff representatives. Staff will review applications received  non-MPP staff members.

The election process and timeline is as follows: 

  • Tuesday, March 26th – Nomination period begins 
  • Tuesday, April 2nd – Nomination period closes at NOON 
  • Wednesday, April 3rd – Election begins 
  • Wednesday, April 10th – Election closes at NOON 
  • Wednesday, April 17th – Committee and Nominees notified of results 
  • Thursday, April 18th – Appointment announced to all staff 
  • Friday, April 29th – First committee meeting
