Transfer Success Pathway
If you graduated from high school (or will graduate) in 2023, you may be eligible for the Transfer Success Pathway program, which guarantees you a spot at CSUSM after completing all requirements at the community college!
The Transfer Success Pathway program is intended to create a clear path to admission to the CSU for eligible high school graduates who have faced hardships that prevented them from attending. Beginning August 1, 2023, eligible students may apply to the program to:

- Enter an agreement with CSUSM for guaranteed admission to a specific degree program, if all requirements are met
- Receive guidance from a CSUSM Admissions Advisor
- Map out your community college coursework through the CSU Transfer Portal (coming soon)

- Eligiblity Requirements
To be eligible for the Transfer Success Pathway program, you must be a graduating high school student from the class of 2023 and meet one of the following requirements below:
- Encountered academic, financial, or personal hardships that prevented you from attending any CSU
- Were a first-time, first year applicant who was redirected to a different CSU campus and opted not to enroll at any CSU campus

Frequently Asked Questions
- Am I eligible for the Transfer Success Pathway program if I graduated high school
prior to 2023?No. The Transfer Success Pathway program is only available to recent high school graduates (i.e.,graduated 2023). You are welcome to apply for admission as a first year student or as an upper division or lower division transfer student!
- If I was denied by a CSU campus for a GPA below 2.00, am I eligible for the Transfer
Success Pathway program?Yes, but be sure to select a term of admission far enough in the future to allow you to complete the admission requirements for upper division transfer student.
- If I was denied by a CSU campus for not meeting A-G, am I eligible for the Transfer
Success Pathway program?
Yes, but be sure to select a term of admission far enough in the future to allow you to complete admission requirements as an upper or lower division transfer student
Note: any A-G requirements that were not met in high school must be met if applying as a lower division transfer.
- Can I apply to multiple Transfer Success Pathway programs?
Applicants can attend multiple community colleges; however, a student can only apply to one program and have one Transfer Success Pathway agreement.
If a student decides to change to another campus or program in the future, they must submit a request for release and allow time for the campus to review. Students can request to cancel their agreement at any time. However, the ability to select another campus or major is available only during the enrollment period between August 1 and September 30, 2023.
- What if the degree program I am interested in is not listed?Not every degree program at CSUSM is eligible for the Transfer Success Pathway. If a program you are interested in is not listed in the "Available Degree Programs" section on this page, you are invited to apply through the standard application pathway for transfer students.
