Time Commitment, Salary and Benefits 

  1. The internship is a 2000-hour, 12-month training program begining on July 31, 2025. Interns will collect at least 1500-hours of Supervised Professional Experience (SPE) as defined by the California Board of Psychology.

  2. The internship salary for the training year, July 31, 2024 through July 30, 2025, is $37,800.

  3. Time-off includes vacations and sick time accrued monthly in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), one personal holiday per calendar year, and major holidays observed by the university. Additional time off must be approved by the SHCS Director of Counseling & Psychological Services. Vacation time must be requested at least 30 days in advance for approval to be considered.   4. At California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS), interns are considered Non-Exempt employees of the CSU, eligible for full and comprehensive benefits. Specifics of medical, dental, vision, COBRA, disability programs, flexible benefit programs, life/AD&D insurance, and additional benefits available to employees of CSUSM can be found at CSUSM Benefits. In addition to salary and benefits, interns are budgeted $200/year each for professional development relevant to the work they do at SHCS, granted upon approval from the Director of Counseling & Psychological Services.
