How to Apply to the LVN to BSN Program
LVN to BSN applicants apply to the Traditional Bachelor of Science (TBSN) program in Cal State Apply. Steps are as follows:
Step One: Between October 1st – November 30th, 2024
- Review the minimum Transfer applicant eligibility requirements for the LVN to BSN to make sure you are fully qualified for the program.
- Submit an application along with the $70 application fee to CSUSM through Cal State Apply. Choose the Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (TBSN) as the major you want to apply to. You will receive an email confirmation once your application has been submitted. Please refer to the CSUSM Office of Admissions Transfer Student application process for all requirements and deadlines associated with being admitted to the University.
- There is NO SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION for admission to the LVN to BSN. Your Cal State Apply application will be used to identify that you want to be considered for admission to the LVN to BSN.
Step Two: No later than February 15th, 2025
- Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
- Submit official test scores (if needed for admission) from AP (Advanced Placement) exams, IB (International Baccalaureate) exams, or CLEP (College Level Examination Program) exams. CSUSM's submission code is 005677
CSUSM requires electronic transcripts from the colleges/universities listed on the Send Transcripts page. Electronic transcripts can be provided through external or third party vendors (Credential Solutions, eTranscriptCA, National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment, etc.). When ordering your transcript, please choose California State University San Marcos as the intended recipient from the school name dropdown. If California State University San Marcos is not listed, please use transcripts@csusm.edu as the recipient email address.
For schools that do not supply electronic transcripts and must be sent by mail, please ensure the transcript is in an envelope sealed by your school and addressed to:

Step Three: No later than March 15th, 2025
Submit evidence of a valid LVN license to CEHHS Student Services:

What Happens After I Apply?
After November 30th, 2024, your Cal State Apply application will be used to identify your desire to be considered for admission to the LVN to BSN. Please refer to the CSUSM Office of Admissions Transfer Student application process for all requirements and deadlines associated with being admitted to the University.
Admission offers to the LVN to BSN will be sent beginning April 1st, 2025. To accept your offer of admission you must submit your CSUSM Intent to Enroll by May 1st, 2025.
If you are not offered admission to the LVN to BSN you may choose an alternate major at CSUSM. Please contact the CSUSM Office of Admissions for further information.
