Jacquelyn Kilpatrick, Ph.D.

Director, School of Arts

Dr. Jacquelyn Kilpatrick received her M.A. from CSU Fresno and her doctorate from the University of California Santa Cruz. While a Fulbright Senior Scholar in Spain, she taught Films from the Margins and Native American Literature. As one of 12 founding faculty at CSUCI, she developed and chaired the Performing Arts (interdisciplinary Music, Dance and Theatre), English, and Communication programs, and she has recently been a professor, Associate Vice Chancellor and Interim Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs at the University of Hawaii’s West Oahu campus.
Dr. Kilpatrick has served on numerous Boards of Directors for Arts and Theatre organizations in California and Illinois, including Shakespeare Santa Cruz in Northern California, Red Path Theatre (an all-Native American theatre company) in Chicago, and in Southern California she has served on the boards of the Ventura County Arts Council, Rubicon Theatre Company, and Teatros de las Americas. Her research and creative work have centered on Film Studies, Native American Literature and Film, and Drama, particularly Shakespeare in performance and production.  Her latest publication is an edition of Shakespeare’s Richard III with an emphasis on performances in and for film.  
She can often be found hiking with her dog, Beo (middle name Wulf).
