Background Check & Drug Screen

Per the CSUSM School of Nursing policy, all nursing students are required to complete a background check and drug screen through American Databank (ADB) prior to starting the program. This is required by all clinical agencies.  The School of Nursing does not have access to your actual results; we are only able to view if your results are cleared.

It is very important that you complete your background check using your full legal name, including your middle name if you have one.  The name used to place your order for the background check & drug screen must match the name that appears on your driver's license and any other supporting identification that a clinical site will require.  It can cause confusion with a clinical site if the name on your background check differs from the name we send on orientation documentation.  Also, if you change your name during the program you will need to redo your background check and drug screen so all documentation matches.
