California Primary Algae Laboratory

Partnering with the State Water Resources Control Board’s Water Ambient Monitoring Program (SWAMP), the California Primary Algae Laboratory is the only lab in the State of California to collect and catalog fresh water algae samples.

Created under the leadership of the late aquatic biologist Dr. Bob Sheath, the lab is responsible for taxonomic identification of soft algae species, as well as other projects used to build taxonomic algea infrastructure for the state.
