Spring 2021

January - May:  The Office for Training, Research, and Education in the Sciences (OTRES) Spring Seminar Series.  OTRES hosts weekly seminars and workshops that are virtually held Fridays from 2:00PM - 3:30PM, unless otherwise noted.

February - MaySTEM Science Writing Workshop with Dr. Julie Jameson and Dr. Darci Taniguchi, Department of Biological Sciences.  Get help with research reports, Master's theses, statements of purpose, essays, and more!  Thursdays, 12:00-1:00PM via Zoom (Meeting ID: 939 9479 6719).

February 2021Black Excellence Month.  Join the Black Student Center and celebrate Black History Month!  All events to be held in the Black Student Center Virtual Zoom Space (https://csusm.zoom.us/j/93540833669) unless otherwise noted. 

February 8 - March 22: Career Center Job Search Boot Camp for New CSUSM Grads.  Commitment is for seven 1.5 hour sessions on Mondays from 4:00-5:30PM.  Register on Handshake.

Thursday, March 18:  SAVE THE DATE!  The Reid Lecture Series will be virtual this year with speaker Dr. Peter Winkler, William Morrill Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Dartmouth College.  

The Math Puzzle that Spawned 100 Philosophy Papers.  Proposed 19 years ago by philosopher Adam Elga, "Sleeping Beauty" seems to be a simple question about probability.  Is it?  If so, why does it incite such passion?  Dr. Winkler will describe the various "camps" in the controversy, and examine their arguments.  In the end, you'll have to decide for yourself where you stand!  6:00-7:00PM (Zoom room opens at 5:45PM).  Event is free but registration is required.

Saturdays, April 17 & 24: Women's Hackathon.  Launched in April 2014, Women's Hackathon @ CSUSM is a bi-annual, 12-hour event that offers high school girls and college women the opportunities to work in teams and create technology solutions for selected non-profit organizations.
