Drought Information
CSUSM has long recognized that the State of California has been in a severe drought.
To ensure that we continue to be good stewards of our resources, we wanted to share
with you what the campus has been doing to conserve water and how you can be a part
of the solution.
Since 2010, we have reduced our potable water on campus by 58 percent, which equals
over 21 million gallons saved. We have done this through a combination of different
strategies such as implementation of waterless urinals and installation of a high-tech
landscape monitoring system, CalSense, which detects leaks, doesn’t water when it
rains and makes monitoring much easier for our landscape crew.
