About Cougar Cruisers, a Free Resource

Cougar Cruisers is a free bike share program available to all CSUSM students with a valid CSUSM ID. Come by the Clarke Field House to rent out a bike today! A helmet and u-lock are included in the rental. Use our bike to get to class, grab a bite to eat off campus, or jump on the sprinter and enjoy riding around the coastline.

The Cougar Cruisers bike share program was made possible by the Sustainability Projects Fund (SPF). Started as an initiative of ASI, the SPF supports student-led projects that promote educational efforts, reduce our environmental impacts, and help "green" our campus. Sustainability Projects are defined as those activities and projects that are integrally related with helping the campus meet its sustainability goals. ASI administers the SPF through a Sustainability Projects Funding Committee.

What is a bike share program?

The Cougar Cruisers Program provides bike availability to users on a first-come first-serve. This program is ideal for short-distance trips around CSUSM and the local area and can be rented up to seven days at a time. 

How can I check out a bike?

  1. Reserve a bike for pick up at the Clarke Field House - RENTAL PERIODS ARE FOR FALL & SPRING SEMESTER; SUMMER BIKE RENTALS ARE OFFLINE
  2. Come by Clarke Field House, Room 108 for an Outdoor Adventure Staff Member to Assist you with your rental
  3. Sign the User Agreement and CSUSM Student Waiver form during Check-out
  4. Start biking!
Please note the following:

Please note that we are closed on Saturdays and Sundays, and we are unable to check out or accept bike returns during those days.

Reservations are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Our bicycle inventory is limited, and we will notify you if we are out for the week. If that happens, we’ll redirect you to reserve for the next available week. Thank you for your understanding as we pilot this program!

 

The following Weeks we will not have the bikes online due to other bike-related programming: 

  • September 21st - 27th 2026
  • November 9th - 15th 2026
  • December 6th 2026 - Feburary 7th 2027
