Welcome to our Fall 2026 Trip Schedule!

Registration for all trips will open on Monday, August 31st 2026. Registration is ONLINE ONLY.

Any current CSUSM student is eligible to sign-up. Unfortunately, we do not allow guests to register if they are not actively enrolled at CSUSM.  All trips have a limited number of spots available and fill up quickly, so be sure to register as early as possible.  Please review our Frequently Asked Questions page.     Join us for a scenic bike ride to Discovery Lake in San Marcos! We'll cruise along local bike trails, explore charming neighborhoods, and take in the sunset views by the lake. Please note this trip is rated a level 3 due to needing to know how to ride a bike; the staff do not teach this skill!

    Catch some waves with a guided surf day trip led by CSUSM’s Surf Team! This all-levels experience is perfect for beginners and those looking to refine their skills. Our experienced team will provide group instruction on surfing basics as well as personalized 1-on-1 coaching both in and out of the water. Participants will learn proper techniques, safety tips, and have plenty of time to practice while enjoying the sun, sand, and surf of San Diego’s iconic beaches. Level 3: Participants must know how to swim in order to participate!

    Experience the thrill of two unforgettable haunted attractions in one evening!

    Our adventure begins at the legendary Whaley House, widely recognized as one of America's most haunted homes. Built on the site of San Diego's original Old Town gallows, the house is steeped in history and has gained national attention for its documented paranormal activity, ghost sightings, and unexplained encounters. Join us for a guided tour as we explore the eerie stories and chilling history behind this iconic landmark.

    Afterward, we'll make our way to Balboa Park for the acclaimed Haunted Trail experience. With Fast Pass admission, our group will skip the regular line and head straight into the action. Venture through a mile-long haunted trail packed with immersive sets, terrifying creatures, and scares waiting around every corner. Whether you're a paranormal enthusiast or simply looking for an adrenaline-filled night, this trip is sure to deliver unforgettable thrills!

    Please Note: The Haunted Trail contains high-impact scares, strobe lights, loud noises, and other special effects that may not be suitable for individuals with heart conditions, those who are prone to seizures, or anyone sensitive to these effects or jump scares. The attraction also uses theatrical fog and may include water spray. In accordance with the vendor's policy, pregnant participants are not permitted to enter the Haunted Trail.

    Experience the world-renowned climbing destination of Joshua Tree National Park on this unforgettable weekend adventure! We'll spend Friday through Sunday camping beneath the desert stars while exploring the park's unique landscapes.

    On Saturday, professional climbing instructors will teach you the fundamentals of outdoor rock climbing before guiding you onto Joshua Tree's iconic natural rock formations for a day of climbing. Whether you're a first-time climber or looking to build your skills, this experience offers a fun and supportive environment to challenge yourself.

    When we're not climbing, we'll explore the park's scenic hiking trails, take in the breathtaking desert views, and unwind around the campfire with classic s'mores each evening. This trip is the perfect opportunity to connect with nature, learn a new skill, and make lasting memories with fellow adventurers.

    Join us for a scenic bike ride along the beautiful Southern California coast! We'll ride along dedicated bike trails and bike lanes, explore charming beachside communities, and take in breathtaking ocean views along the way. Our route begins in Oceanside, where we'll take the North County Sprinter before cycling south through Carlsbad. We'll stop for lunch and enjoy some free time to explore the area before returning to campus.

    Level 3 due to participants needing to know how to ride a bike in order to register - staff do not teach this skill!

  1. All sales are final. We are unable to provide refunds unless the trip must be canceled due to inclement weather or other safety concerns. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns before registering for an excursion. Thank you!
  2. Transportation is Included for all trips. ALL participants are required to meet at Clarke Field House AND return back to campus with us, regardless of their locality to the destination. Thank you for your understanding.
  3. All overnight trips require a MANDATORY pre-travel meeting. More information will be listed under the trip's webpage.
  4. All participants are required to have health insurance in order to participate in OA or Campus Recreation activities. Please have your information ready at time of registration. If a participant does NOT have health insurance, the Student Health Care Service provides basic medical care; students can check out their options with Covered California


Adventure for Everyone!

We have trips for every skill level, from novice to expert. The guidelines below will help you select adventures that are right for you. If you’re unsure about your skill level, email us and our staff will help you determine what trips will be easy-challenging.

  1. Level 1: Great for outdoor novices and those new to active travel who are seeking more knowledge of the outdoor world
  2. Level 2: Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts looking for stimulating adventure in the great outdoors that will have physical activity involved
  3. Level 3: Recommended for active travelers with basic skills who meet certain requirements/experience to be able to participate, example: Swimming, endurance hiking, biking riding, etc.
