If you are completing your final pre-business courses in Summer 2020, please wait
until the Summer 2020 application period begins (tentatively on May 11, 2020)
If you are a student who has been admitted to CSUSM for Fall 2020, please wait until
the Summer 2020 application period to submit your business status application.
If you submit it prior to Summer 2020, your application will not be reviewed.
The Spring 2020 business status application period is from Monday, February 24 - Friday, March 27, 2020.
Print, complete, and submit the application to the CoBA Advising Office in MARK 126
or email your completed application to businessapp@csusm.edu.
Applications received after March 27, 2020 will not be processed and you will have
to wait until Summer 2020 to apply for business status. There are no exceptions!
Students must pass all pre-business core courses with a C or higher and a minimum 2.65 GPA from these classes.
Completion of GE requirements are not considered for business status.
If your GPA falls between 2.5 and 2.649, you will be placed on a waitlist and given
business status if space becomes available.
Students who have been placed on the business status waitlist are encouraged to repeat
courses in which a C was earned in order to raise your GPA.
Students who previously applied for business status, but did not retain it (business
status was denied or you were waitlisted) can apply for business status now, but your
application will be placed on hold until we have received your final grades from Spring
2020.
If you previously applied but did not retain business status, you may enroll in BUS
300 and/or any other Upper-division GE courses that you have not completed now and
adjust your schedule once you have earned business status.
If you are taking Spring 2020 classes at a community college, please attach evidence
of enrollment (unofficial transcript, class schedule, etc.) to the application.
The deadline to submit your official transcript from Spring 2020 is Monday, June 1, 2020.
If your transcript is not received by this date, you will be moved back to pre-business
and dropped from any upper-division business classes for Fall 2020 (and Summer 2020
if enrolled). No exceptions!
Submit official transcripts directly to the CoBA Advising Office in MARK 126.
Please DO NOT submit your transcript to Cougar Central as it could take up to 6 weeks for them
to process and post your transcript.
Students will be notified via their CSUSM email address once they have earned conditional
business status.
At the end of the semester, we will only send an additional email if there is a problem
with your application.
If you do not receive a second email at the end of the semester, you can safely assume
you have retained business status and can proceed with your business courses for Fall
2020 and beyond.
