**We moved! Service Learning & Civic Engagement offices are now located in the Extended Learning Building (ELB), on the 2nd floor, in office 284. Stop by the front desk of the 2nd floor and they will guide you!

The Department of Civic Engagement provides opportunities for students to develops civic knowledge and participate in democratic engagement through opportunities for civic dialogue and direct involvement with local issues, on- and off-campus. Through initiatives such as Democracy in Action, Speaking of Democracy, Days of Service, Voting Engagement, and the Town Hall Meeting, students gain confidence in their personal capabilities and gain awareness of the positive impact they have on the community. Civic Action Plan

On March 1, 2016, President Karen S. Haynes signed the Campus Compact 30th Anniversary Action Statement of Presidents and Chancellors.
Signing the statement signifies CSUSM's recommitment to the values of civic engagement and action in service to the public good. Stay tuned for an updated, 2024 plan to be posted soon!
