
The California JusticeCorps program began in Los Angeles in 2004. JusticeCorps members are recruited from participating University of California and California State Universities. JusticeCorps offers a unique approach to addressing one of the most pressing issues faced by courts around the country today; providing equal access to justice. JusticeCorps also aims to increase language access to self-represented litigants, provide members with unique learning opportunities, and promote diversity among court personnel.

The San Diego Student Member Application (300 hours) and the full-time position which is called the San Diego Fellow Application (1700 hours and BA required) can both be accessed by applicants creating an account at the application website.

JusticeCorps members are recruited from participating University of California and California State Universities. JusticeCorps offers a unique hands-on approach to addressing one of the most pressing issues faced by courts around the country today; providing equal access to justice. JusticeCorps also aims to increase language access to self-represented litigants, provide members with unique learning opportunities, and promote diversity among court personnel.
JusticeCorps members are trained in specific legal skills to provide information to self-represented litigants to resolve their legal matters. Members learn legal terms, how to fill out required forms, and how to explain court proceedings.

All JusticeCorps members provide one-on-one direct service to litigants, support specially-designed legal workshops, assist litigants in completing forms, do front desk triaging, and help with written correspondence. Members complete a minimum of 300 service hours throughout a program year (about 8 hours a week).
Interested students at participating universities must fill out an application, be ready to serve 300 hours over a 9-12 month period and pass a background check. After reviewing eligible applications, program directors contact students for an interview and shortly thereafter will notify those accepted.
Applications are due by March 9, 2019 but may still be accepted after due date.
