Message to Parents

Dear Parents,

I’d like to welcome you to the Student Health and Counseling Services website.  The professionals of the clinic are here to support the health and wellness of our students in support of their academic success while attending our campus.  Our staff is student focused and centered and we hold to the belief that academic success is highly influenced by health and wellness.

The services we provide include acute care, care for limited ongoing issues, psychiatry, psychological counseling, health education, and pharmacy.  Our staff includes two other physicians, two nurse practitioners, psychiatrist, psychologists, pharmacist, health educators, nurses, and administrative staff.

If your student requires care and services beyond our capabilities, we will work with them to identify community resources to meet those needs (or provide direction to their health insurance if they are covered).   We do not have lab and x-ray on site, but have agreements with community providers to provide these services to students.

If your student is covered by health insurance, please ensure they have their insurance card with them, as it has valuable information about accessing care outside of their usual provider.  Please know that we do not bill insurance companies for services provided here, but are happy to provide a receipt for services for insurance company reimbursement.

We provide Health Education outreach activities to students on campus and through the information on our web site.  We also have a Facebook and Twitter account with the latest updates.

Our clinic is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), a national accrediting organization that surveys us every three (3) years to ensure we continue to provide quality care to your student.

Student Health and Counseling Services is here to support your student’s success.  If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free at anytime to contact us online at or directly at 760/750-4915.

Warm Regards,

Karen D. Nicholson, MD, MPH
