I would like to welcome you to the Student Health & Counseling Services (SHCS) website. The professionals of SHCS are here to support the health and wellness of our students in support of their academic success while attending our campus. Our staff is student focused and centered and we hold to the belief that academic success is highly influenced by health and wellness.
At SHCS, we provide include acute care, care for limited ongoing issues, psychiatry, psychological counseling, health education, and pharmacy. Our staff includes physicians, nurse practitioners, psychiatrist, psychologists, case manager, pharmacist, health educators and advocates, nurses, and administrative staff. During these unprecedented times, we have had adjust the means of healthcare delivery to optimize our resources while being readily available to the needs of your students, to include secured telemedicine encounters that do not require a visit to SHCS to receive care. Additionally, I’m pleased to announce that we have partnered with the County of San Diego to provide on campus COVID-19 testing 7 days a week.
If your student requires care and services beyond our capabilities, we will work with
them to identify community resources to meet those needs (or provide direction to
their health insurance, if they are covered). We have lab collection capabilities,
and although we do not have x-ray on-site, SHCS has agreements with nearby imaging
centers to provide these services to students.
If your student is covered by health insurance, please ensure they have their insurance card with them, as it has valuable information about accessing care outside of their usual provider. Please note that we do not bill insurance for services rendered at SHCS, but are happy to provide a receipt for services for insurance company reimbursement.
We provide Health Education outreach activities to students on campus and through
the information on our web site. We also have a Facebook and Twitter account with the latest updates.
Our clinic is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), a national accrediting organization that surveys us every three (3) years to ensure we continue to provide quality care to your student.
Student Health & Counseling Services is here to support your student’s success. Please check-out our website https://www.csusm.edu/shcs/, or feel free to contact us online at firstname.lastname@example.org or directly at (760) 750-4915.
