Safety Data Sheets
A Safety Data Sheet (SDS), previously known as a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), is a document containing detailed health and safety information for chemicals, chemical compounds, and chemical mixtures. Under California law, areas that work with hazardous chemicals, such as laboratories, are required to have SDSs for those chemicals readily accessible. To meet this requirement, the CSU uses the Risk & Safety Solutions SDS electronic database to allow any CSU employees or students to quickly access an SDS.
SDS Database
As of September 8th, 2024, the CSU will no longer use MSDS Online (a.k.a. Velocity EHS). Safety Data Sheets can now be searched and accessed through RSS by anyone with CSUSM login credentials: RSS How to Access SDS.

Please contact Everett Kekoa with any questions regarding SDSs or RSS in general, or to request a physical copy of an SDS for any chemical on campus.
