Ergonomics

Ergonomics is the study of long-term employee health and safety in their working environment.  The goal is to "fit the job to the person" rather than making the person fit the job.  As a result, ergonomics intends to lessen muscle fatigue and reduce work-related injuries associated with lifting heavy items, bending, reaching overhead, pushing and pulling heavy loads, working in awkward body postures, or performing the same tasks repetitively.

CSUSM employees who experience persistent discomfort at work are encouraged to use the SH&S Ergonomics Program.
