Special Accommodations

Certain ergonomic-related issues may require a special accommodation.  Providing such support must be reasonable for both the employee and their Department.  Depending of the circumstance, either The Office of Human Resources (OHR) or Workers Compensation – under the auspices of Integrated Risk Management (IRM), can assist in facilitating the process.

ADA Reasonable Accommodations

  • For those employees requiring a specific ergonomically-related accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), The Office of Human Resources (OHR) should be contacted.
  • HR will coordinate with SH&S regarding specific workstation adjustments (for both the workplace and home office environment).
  • SH&S will work with the employee, their supervisor, and the appropriate campus Collaborators to acquire and install the applicable equipment items.

Workers' Compensation Accommodations

  • In the event that an employee suffers a work-related injury that may require a special ergonomically-related accommodation, The Office of Human Resources (OHR) should be contacted.
  • OHR will coordinate with SH&S regarding specific adjustment (for both the workplace and home office environment).
  • SH&S will work primarily with the employee’s supervisor, along with the appropriate campus Collaborators, to acquire and install the applicable equipment items.
