- Student Emergency Fund: $350 is available to currently enrolled CSUSM students who encounter an unexpected financial emergency or catastrophic event in which their basic needs and/or ability to function as a student are impacted.

- Sentio Counseling Center offers online therapy on a sliding scale starting at $30 per session.
- Urban Restoration Counseling Center offers Therapy for All where you can attend up to 15 sessions for FREE with interns (ASW/AMFT) then $40 per session after that.
- Palomar Health Crisis Stabilization Unit in Escondido is a short-term facility that can help with crisis intervention support such as suicidal ideation. Walk-in or call Intake Line at (760) 739-3012.
- Exodus North Coastal Crisis Stabilization Unit- off-campus program that provides crisis services, including medication evaluation and management in an outpatient setting (less than 24 hours). Takes all individuals regardless of whether insured due to county funding.
- Exodus Vista Crisis Stabilization Unit – Off campus program that provides crisis services, including medication evaluation and management in an outpatient setting (less than 24 hours). Takes all individuals regardless of whether insured due to funding county.
- One Safe Place – off campus resource that provides comprehensive support services for anyone who has experienced child abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence, hate crime, violent loss, family abuse or victimization.
- Grief Support
- Elizabeth Hospice provides grief counseling and groups for individuals in San Diego and Southwest Riverside counties who have lost a loved one.
- Survivors of Suicide Loss: Provides individual/group support for those who have lost a loved one to suicide.
- Rancho Coastal Humane Society provides support for pet loss.

- TrueCare Insurance Assistance helps you complete Medi-Cal or other insurance applications. Call (760) 736-6734 to schedule an appointment with one of their friendly Program & Resource Specialists.
- Insulin and Diabetes Medication - Financial Assistance
- CancerCare: Financial assistance is available by calling (800) 813-HOPE (4673).
- Mama’s Kitchen: Provides San Diego County residents, who have any type of cancer which impairs their mental and/or physical capacity to prepare food, with free meals.
- Jacob’s House: Provides help (such as lodging in Temecula Valley, food, support, etc) for those who need to be away from home while their loved ones are hospitalized.
- National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) offers screening, resources, and treatment connections.
- Low-Cost Medical Clinics
All offer primary care, mental health, dental, & more. They accept Medi-Cal & have low income sliding fee scale for those without insurance. Telehealth appointments also available
- Borrego Health - Located in El Cajon & Escondido
- Family Health Centers of San Diego is located primarily in southern San Diego. Also offers substance abuse aid; mental health wait may be 3-4 months.
- Vista Community Clinic is located in Vista, Oceanside, & Lake Elsinore. Also offers optometry. Doctor visits start at $40. Dental can range $50-$100 but they do not offer crowns, implants, root canals, or braces. They offer limited extractions. Call (844) 308-5003 to make an appointment in English or Spanish.
- Disability Assistance
- CSUSM Disability Support Services
- California Children’s Services (CCS) is a statewide program that helps children and young adults under 21 years of age who have certain physical limitations, chronic health conditions or diseases. They may be able to help with medical services and equipment, if you qualify.
- San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, Inc. provides free civil legal services to disadvantaged families, seniors, persons with disabilities, persons living with HIV/AIDS, and domestic violence survivors in San Diego County.
- Benefitscheckup.org - BenefitsCheckUp connects millions of older adults and people with disabilities with benefits programs that can help pay for health care, medicine, food, utilities, and more. See what's available in your area by entering your ZIP code at the link.
- In-Home Supportive Services - The IHSS Program provides funding to elderly or disabled Californians to pay for services to take place in their personal homes or places of residence (i.e., payment for family caregivers, adjustments to the home, etc.). State policymakers designed the program to prevent the unnecessary placement of individuals in Medicaid (Medi-Cal) funded nursing homes.
For DISABILITY/PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT/TESTING (such as ADHD/Autism/NeuroPsych evaluations) to assist with class accommodations at CSUSM, etc.:
- San Diego BrainWorks may accept some insurance plans such as Medicare and Tricare or can provide a Superbill for reimbursement for out of network providers. Located in San Diego and Temecula. Call 858-914-1347
- San Diego Center for Children Family Wellness/Outpatient Center in San Diego that provides assessments out of pocket that range from $500 to $1500.
Be aware that psychological testing can be costly and some students consider seeking help from the CSUSM SHCS Health Assistance Fund.

- Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA): (800) 662-HELP (4357) or TTY: (800) 487-4889 is an information service, in English & Spanish, for those facing mental &/or substance use disorders. Provides referrals to local treatment, support groups, & community organizations.
- Brother Benno’s in Oceanside offers a 26-week Recovery Training Program for men & women who hope to stop drinking or using drugs.

- The Online Writing Center (OWC) supports CSUSMs writers both virtually and in-person through one-on-one consultations, webinars on common writing challenges, and real-time responses to quick questions. Please make an appointment.
- Academic Success Center Tutoring: For ECON, FIN, HIST, PSYC, SPAN courses.
- Supplemental Instruction: If your ACCT, CHEM, CS, MATH, PSYC, or SLP course is supported by supplemental instruction, further help is available here.
- Psychology Academic Resource Laboratory (PARL) is a resource for psychology and the social sciences, providing academic support for enhancing quantitative, computing, writing, biological, and research methodology skills. It also offers a variety of specialized computer programs and tutorials on statistics, research methods, psychometrics, and the biological bases of behavior.

- Student Short-Term Loans: Students can borrow up to a maximum of $500 when unique or unexpected expenses occur.; loans must be repaid in eight (8) weeks. Students with outstanding balances are ineligible to apply.

- 211 San Diego is a county resource and information hub that connects people with housing, utilities, food, health, and other resources. Dial 211 to speak with a customer support representative who will help callers search for services or search 211 online for resources.
- FindHelp.org provides information about financial assistance, food pantries, medical care, etc.
- Utility Assistance
- Customers that are enrolled in the CARE program receive a 30-35% discount on their electric bill and 20% discount on their natural gas bill.
- AT&T Access Program: Low-cost internet service if eligible.
- SDG&E Utility Assistance Programs: Call (800) 411-7343 Neighbor to Neighbor Program
- Gas Assistance Fund: May be able to provide a one-time grant for the gas bill under $100, if qualified.
- The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) provides up to $30 discount on monthly internet services and a one-time discount of $100 for a computer or tablet. Those who receive government assistance or whose income falls below 200% of the federal poverty line are eligible. Students with Pell Grants, CalFresh, WIC, or SNAP (CalFresh) also qualify.

- 211 San Diego is a county resource and information hub that connects people with housing, utilities, food, health, and other resources. Dial 2-1-1 to speak with a customer support representative who will help callers search for services search 211 online for resources.
- FindHelp.org provides information about financial assistance, food pantries, medical care, etc.
- Care Credit Card - CareCredit is a health and wellness credit card with flexible financing options so you can pay overtime for care you want or need. Accepted at over 260,000+ locations.
- Transportation
- MTAS Free Youth Transportation "for students 18 and under"
- Commuter Lounge: Located on the first floor, adjacent to the USU entrance from Chavez Circle, the lounge includes microwaves, vending, a sink, shower, and refrigerated lockers. Computers and print stations are also available. Learn about Commuter Services and Programs.
- Zipcar: There are two (2) Zipcar vehicles parked in the 1st floor of PS1 (Parking Structure 1). Zipcar is a car-sharing company providing automobile reservations to its members, billable by the hour or day. Employees and students are eligible to join using their campus email. Drivers must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license in good standing. International driver's licenses are accepted. There is a small annual fee ($20) and reservations can be made hourly, daily, and in advance.
- Waze Carpool: A mobile phone app that connects riders and drivers with nearly identical work/school to home commute routes. Thanks to Waze advanced mapping capabilities, the platform connects carpool partners from the same local community, making it easy to carpool with neighbors and colleagues you kow or haven't met, yet.

- Community Resource Center (CRS - main office in Encinitas): Offers programs for assistance in preventing domestic violence (DV), integrated services for housing stability, individual & family counseling, and food & nutrition security. This also includes Carol’s House, an emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence.

- The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) provides up to $30 discount on monthly internet services and a one-time discount of $100 for a computer or tablet. - In-Home Supportive Services - The IHSS Program provides funding to elderly or disable Californians to pay for services to take place in thie personal homes or places of residence (i.e., payment for family caregivers, adjustments to the home, etc.). State policymakers designed the program to prevent the unnecessary placement of individuals in Medicaid (Medi-Cal) funded nursing homes.

- Commuter Lounge: Located on the first floor, adjacent to the USU entrance from Chavez Circle, the lounge includes microwaves, vending, a sink, shower, and refrigerated lockers. Computers and print stations are also available. Learn about Commuter Services and Programs.
- Students 18 and under are eligible for FREE public transit through PRONTO. CSUSM students 19 and above are eligible for discount transit passes.
- For bikers: CSUSM offers bike racks, lockers, and registration with University Police in case your bike is lost or stolen.
- Zipcar: There are two (2) Zipcar vehicles parked in the 1st floor of PS1 (Parking Structure 1). Zipcar is a car-sharing company providing automobile reservations to its members, billable by the hour or day. Employees and students are eligible to join using their campus email. Drivers must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license in good standing. International driver's licenses are accepted. There is a small annual fee ($20) and reservations can be made hourly, daily, and in advance.
