Overview

CSUSM’s 13-week intensive certification prep program prepares you to sit for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) exam offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI). This prep program is ideal for those who are new to project management and are looking to grow their career.

    This program meets the project management education requirement to sit for the CAPM exam and provides knowledge and tools to help you be ready on test day

  • Designed for all levels

    Course materials are designed for beginning project managers but the concepts apply to all levels of project managers, including those with years of experience

    You will be able to take what you learn in the class and immediately apply it to your current work projects

    Course sessions include a combination of lectures, discussions, quizzes and projects

  • AUDIENCE

    This certification prep course is designed primarily for:

    • Individuals seeking CAPM certification
    • Those new to project management who are seeking advancement or more information

    There are no admission requirements to take this program; however, to be eligible to sit for the PMI’s CAPM exam, you need to meet all education and experience prerequisites in one of the following two categories:

    Category General Education Project Management Experience Project Management Education

    Category A

    High school diploma

    1,500 hours of project management experience

    Category B

    High school diploma

    n/a

    23 hours of project management education

    • Program fee is $2,100
    • Entire program is approved for 3.9 CEUs

  • INSTRUCTOR

    Ryan Stewart, PMP

    ryanstewart

    Ryan has been practicing project management for over 10 years in a variety of industries, with a majority of his background being in defense and security/risk management. He is currently the manager of Sheriff’s Analysis Group for the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, where he oversees the department’s analytical and intelligence project and program functions. Ryan has a master’s degree in business management, specializing in organizational leadership, from National University, a master’s degree in human and health administration from the University of Oklahoma and a bachelor’s degree in law, society and justice from the University of Washington. Ryan is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), an active member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and a retired Marine Corps officer.

    What are the course materials?

    Prepare for the exam with comprehensive study materials including printed study materials, online quizzes, flashcards, CAPM exam emulation and more. 

    Also included in your course fee is the most current version of the PMBOK Guide which is the industry standard in project management.

    Can I earn CEUs with this program?

    Yes, this program is eligible for up to 3.9 CEUs.

    Can I use my employer’s tuition reimbursement for this program?

    Yes, this program will accept employer’s tuition reimbursement funds.

    Does this program qualify for any SHRM recertification PDCs?

    Yes, this program is valid for 35 PDCs for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.
