Overview

CSUSM and APICS San Diego have developed this Professional Certificate in Operations Resource Management to help update your knowledge of supply chain and operations management skills. This program provides the information and skills needed to be better informed and effective in today’s globally competitive business environment.

  • Flexible program

    This certificate program offers evening classes and the flexibility to take classes in any order, with the possibility to complete the entire certificate in just over 12 months

  • Earn APICS recertification points

    If you have already earned your CPIM, each ORM class is worth 24 APICS recertification points

  • NAPM approved courses

    Each course meets one evening per week for 10 weeks and is approved by the National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM) for three points each toward your Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) designation

    Course Details

    • Classes held at CSUSM on Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m.
    • Each course is $769, or the entire program is $4,614
    • Classes may be taken in any order, allowing you to complete your certificate in just over 12 months
    • A passing grade of C- or better is required to receive the certificate and successfully complete the program
    • NAPM has approved each course for three points toward a CPM designation

    Inventory Management

    This course aims to provide fundamental knowledge and understanding of the core concepts necessary to effectively manage activities related to planning, scheduling and controlling manufacturing processes.

    Global Sourcing Supply Chain Management

    It is a global marketplace and this course will help you navigate the complex and changing landscape of international business. Companies and organizations need skilled operations management and supply chain professionals in today’s intensely competitive global marketplace. The course provides a comprehensive study of the critical competencies and challenges associated with international sourcing and procurement

    Distribution and Logistics

  • INSTRUCTORS

    Cheri English, CPM, CSCP

    Cheri has over 27 years of experience in manufacturing and materials management. She has a degree in Administration of Justice, earned her CPM in 2004 and her CSCP certification in 2008. Her experience in manufacturing includes customer service, finance and a variety of roles in supply chain management in companies ranging from small to global in aerospace, maquiladora, semiconductor and the biotechnical industries. She is currently the manager of planning management for EMD Millipore in San Diego. English has been an instructor for the San Diego chapter since 2008, teaching the Back to Basics series, seminars and CSCP review courses. She has served on the APICS San Diego Chapter Board of Directors since 2002 in various roles (publicity, membership, finance, education). She is currently executive director of CSCP and Seminars for the current board of directors.

    Sanford (Sandy) Friedman, BS, MS, MBA, CFPIM, CIRM, PMP, ITIL

    Sandy is a senior project manager, PMO at CGI. He has over 30 years of industry experience in management, project management, consulting, teaching and systems development in aerospace and defense, biomedical, pharmaceutical, healthcare as well as manufacturing, logistics and distribution industries. Sandy is a past president of APICS-Los Angeles, and recently served as ambassador for the San Diego chapter. He was also a board member of the Los Angeles Aerospace and Defense Special Interest Group (LA-ADSIG), and is the recipient of the APICS Milt Cook Award for 2008.

    Homero Escandon, CSCP, CLTD, PMP, LSSBB, CPDW

    Homero has over 22 years of experience in Operations and Supply Chain roles across multiple industries.  He is currently Director of Commercial Operations for Biotix, Inc. – a world class manufacturer of laboratory consumables and liquid handling solutions.  He has previously held the positions of Director of Logistics; Sr. Manager, Warehouse & Logistics; Manager, Logistics & Inventory; Logistics Manager; and Logistics Engineering Manager.  His has worked for companies such as Northrop Grumman, LISI Aerospace, and United Technologies Corporation.  Homero spent 11 years active duty in the United States Marine Corps, including two deployments to Iraq in support of the Global War on Terrorism.  During his time in the military, Homero held roles such as Distribution Operations Manager, Logistics Systems Manager, Recruiter, Supply Chief, Supply Supervisor, and Supply Clerk. Homero holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Business Administration.  His certifications include CSCP, CLTD, PMP, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB), Certified Professional in Distribution & Warehousing (CPDW), and Certified DISC Practitioner.

    Kim Kohler, CPIM, CSCP

    Kim has over 15 years of experience in the supply chain field.  She has held positions in manufacturing, project management, production planning, and procurement.  She most recently worked for Thermo Fisher Scientific in Carlsbad. Kim has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire and received her CPIM certification in 2015 and CSCP in 2016.  Kim began teaching CPIM courses with APICS in 2016 and has recently joined the Board of Directors as Director of CPIM.  She enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion with others interested in supply chain and operations.

    Does this program qualify for any SHRM recertification PDCs?

    Yes, this program is valid for 35 PDCs for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.

    Do you offer any certification prep programs?

    Yes, CSUSM offers CPIM and CSCP certification exam prep programs.
