Important Information
-
- Health Compliance Policy: Take this policy with you when you meet with your healthcare provider. There are also category descriptions/requirements in Complio which might be more specific.
- COVID-19 Vaccination Information: Participating in clinical experiences is an integral part of the program. At present, Covid-19 vaccination is not required, though it is strongly encouraged. Previously, clinical sites had required students to be vaccinated. If they choose to reinstate this requirement, you will need to be vaccinated for Covid-19 (if the site does not allow for declination) to continue your program. Any changes to the Covid-19 category will be shared with students through Undergraduate Nursing on Community.
- CPR Card: Please refer to the Health Compliance Policy. This provides you with information as to what is required for the American Heart Association CPR card. Take this policy with you when you meet with your healthcare provider. There are also category descriptions/requirements in Complio which might be more specific.
- Documents: Where required, forms are located under each category in Complio or in the Complio requirements folder located in the left menu. You need to print, sign and upload each document. Please be sure to review the Undergraduate Student Handbook before signing the handbook acknowledgement form. Should you have any questions on how to use Complio, please call ADB at 1-800-200-0853.
- Drug Screen: You must not drink more than eight ounces of any type of fluid two hours prior to providing your urine sample. Also, be sure to order your drug screen before going to the lab and take the order form with you.
- TB Test: Please refer to the Health Compliance Policy. This provides you with information as to what is required for your TB test. Take this policy with you when you meet with your healthcare provider. There are also category descriptions/requirements in Complio which might be more specific.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the best way to ensure I'm compliant in Complio in time to begin the semester?Being proactive is essential. Provider offices are often unable to see patients on short notice. It is highly recommended that you make an appointment to be seen as soon as you receive confirmation that you have been accepted into the program, if not before.
- What are the most challenging categories to clear for Complio? The most time-consuming categories to clear are the immunizations: Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR), Varicella and Hepatitis B. Each of these categories (five total items) requires a 'positive titer' to be cleared. If you are positive in a category, you will be cleared throughout the program. If you are negative or equivocal, you will need to start a booster series.
- What is a titer?A titer is a test that measures the presence and number of antibodies in the blood.
- Do I want to be 'positive' in all my lab tests? No, you want positive titers. These are blood tests that show you have immuninity (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B). You will want negative results for Tuberculosis. Some immunizations do not require a titer or lab test to be drawn (Influenze, COVID-19 Vaccine).
- If I am not 'positive' for a titer, will that hold me back from starting the program? No, as long as you begin a booster series, you will have temporary compliance during the program. It is imperative that you follow the timelines associated with this series so that you do not fall out of compliance. See your Complio record or the job aid posted on Undergraduate Nursing in Community for details.
- I am not in the area and don't plan to return until the start of the semester. Can
I complete these items where I currently live?Yes, of course. Work with your provider. You may run into challenges with the booster series if you do not have a provider in the area when you move. Work to come up with a plan to be able to complete these categories without falling out of compliance.
- If I can't get an appointment with my doctor in time, what should I do?
There are other options, although they may be more expensive. CVS has MinuteClinics that can provide all the services you require, but for a fee. Student Health Services may also be able to help you.
- Where can I find the HIPPA module?View the HIPPA self-learning module and acknowledgement form. The acknowledgement form needs to be uploaded to the Complio HIPPA Training Certificate category.
