Employer Paid LTD Insurance

The CSU provides employer-paid long term disability insurance (LTD) to eligible employees within specific employee categories, as well as the opportunity to purchase voluntary coverage for those not eligible for employer paid coverage.  The Standard Life Insurance Company (The Standard®) is the insurance carrier for this benefit. LTD is an income protection program to pay a monthly benefit to you in the event you cannot work for an extended period of time because of a covered illness or injury.  This LTD benefit replaces a portion of your income, helping you to meet your financial commitments in a time of need.

This program provides benefits after 180 days of continuous disability. LTD is provided to supplement industrial disability leave, Social Security disability, retirement system payments, or any other group disability plan payments. If disability criteria are met, eligible employees will receive a percentage of pay up to a designated maximum amount per month, until age 65. The level of coverage varies by employee category and is outline in the chart below.
