Voluntary Summer 9/80 Work Schedule 2015
Executive Council has approved the voluntary implementation of a summer 9/80 work schedule for CSUSM employees. Managers may offer this alternate work schedule to their staff as long as it meets the following guideline:
- Will be transparent to all internal and external customers of the University by not disrupting normal business operations or service to our customers.
There are two effective dates for managers and employees to consider when choosing a summer 9/80 work schedule:
Option 1 - May 25, 2015 through August 14, 2015
Option 2 - June 1, 2015 through August 21, 2015
A regular work week is considered to be Monday through Friday. For a 9/80 work schedule, the work week period begins at the midpoint of the bi-weekly eight (8) hour day. Employees work nine (9) hours per day on four (4) consecutive days during each calendar week and an additional eight (8) hour shift on the alternating fifth (5) consecutive day every other week during a fourteen (14) consecutive day period of time. The summer 9/80 work schedule provides for alternating Fridays off.
Employees who would like to participate in the summer 9/80 work schedule must complete a "Summer 9/80 Work Schedule Request Form" and forward to their appropriate administrator. The appropriate administrator (MPP) should consider the guideline when making a determination to approve or deny the employee's request. The MPP should forward the completed form to HR prior to May 12, 2015.
