Business Confidence Index

The Business Confidence Index has been developed by the Cal State University San Marcos College of Business Administration and the San Diego Business Journal over the past five years, being adjusted and reexamined semiannually. The index is calculated from specific survey responses to questions focused on overall business operations and opportunities in San Diego County; distributed to local businesses, the most recent survey received 95 responses, and the results are as follows. A score above 50 indicates optimism; a score below 50 indicates lack of confidence.

The most recent output of the Business Confidence Index  in Fall 2020 shows a growth in optimism from Spring 2020 in the local business community. The higher than spring 2020 index number shows that local business owners are optimistic and looking forward to conducting business within the near future.
