Volunteer in the Business Professional Development (BUS 300) Class
To meet the challenge of the increasingly competitive job market, the College of Business Administration (CoBA) created a program to develop students' personal and professional success skills. BUS 300 is taught by experienced professionals called Executives in Residence (EIRs). With the guidance of these EIRs, students fulfill course requirements that hone the valuable skills they need to differentiate themselves in today's competitive environment.
Assist with Mock Interviews
Mock Interviews provide students with an authentic interview experience designed to build confidence and prepare them for internships and full-time employment. As part of the Business Professional Development course, students participate in one-on-one mock interviews with business professionals who serve as hiring managers for the student's chosen career path.
Students practice answering common interview questions, receive personalized feedback on their interview performance and application materials, and gain valuable insights into employer expectations. This hands-on experience helps students strengthen their communication skills, refine their professional presence, and develop the confidence needed to succeed in future job interviews.

Attend a Networking Night
Networking Night is a signature professional development event hosted by the CSUSM College of Business Administration that brings together Business 300 students and industry professionals for an evening of meaningful networking and career exploration. Designed primarily for sophomore and junior business students, the event provides opportunities to build professional connections, practice networking skills, and gain firsthand insights into a variety of business careers.
The evening begins with an opening mixer, followed by three structured networking rounds where professionals share their career journeys, discuss industry trends, and engage students in conversations about career readiness, leadership, and professional growth. Through these interactive discussions, students strengthen their confidence, expand their networks, and develop the communication skills essential for future career success.

Provide Coaching to Graduating Seniors
The College of Business Administration invites business professionals to make a lasting impact by supporting graduating seniors through one-on-one coaching sessions. During each 15 minute session, you’ll help students clarify their career goals, create actionable plans for their next steps, and prepare them for life beyond the classroom. Your guidance not only strengthens their confidence but also bridges the gap between academic learning and professional success.

Volunteer in the Career Mentor Program
The program enhances the student experience by linking them one-on-one with an industry mentor. Students are paired with someone invested in their success — a person ready to listen, inspire, help navigate challenges, and recognize opportunities. At the same time, mentors will build their networks and develop skills to become better leaders.
Get Involved with Women in Business
Women in Business brings together a community of female business professionals and students to form a sense of community and collaboration to advocate for leadership development, personal growth, and future business opportunities. Events feature speakers, networking, and opportunities for group mentorship.

Sponsor a Project
The Senior Experience Program matches teams of five graduating business students with for-profit and non-profit organizations to complete projects. Students gain experience by working as consultants on rigorous, real-world projects that require teamwork and application of classroom knowledge.

Student organizations are formally affiliated with the CSUSM College of Business Administration and play a vital role in enhancing the student experience. They provide opportunities for leadership development, professional networking, and hands-on learning that complement classroom instruction.
