Cal State Apply Guide

Dual enrollment students applying to CSUSM for fall 2026 

  1. Go to Cal State Apply
  2. From the “Select a Term to Apply For”, select “Fall 2026”
  3. Click the red "Apply Now!" button
  4. On the welcome screen, Click the “Create an Account” button.
    Fill out the form and create a username and password.
    Note: You must enter your personal email address, not your school email address. 
  5. Click “Don’t Copy, Start a New Application.” 
Click Apply Now

    1. Education Goal
      1. Select “Dual Enrollment (I am a current high school student who is interested in taking college-level courses at a CSU campus before high school graduation)” 
      2. Click to checkmark “I understand I am applying as a dual enrollment student to the CSU.” 
      3. Fill out the rest of the page.
      4. Click “Save Changes.”

  1. Add Programs 
    1. Click “Enter Invitation Code” 
    2. Type in your invitation code and press “Enter” on your keyboard.

    3. A pop-up message will say “You may select only one program with this code.” Click “Ok.” 
    4. Your invitation code will open “San Marcos Undergraduate,” which will show “High school Dual Enrollment.”
      Click on the “+” sign to select it (the “+” sign will turn into a checkmark).
    5. Click “Accept.”

    6. Click “Continue.” 
    7. Click “Continue to My Application.” 
  1. This will show your application, which contains four sections. 
    1. 1. Personal Information 
      1. Fill out all sections. 
      2. For “Parent/Guardian Information,” you can choose “Add a Parent/Guardian” or “I Am Not Adding Any Parent/Guardian Information.” 
    2. 2. Academic History 
      1. Under “Add a High School,” type your high school’s city or zip code to find your school and select it. 
        1. Fill in your high school information. 
    3. 3. Supporting Information 
        1. Click “Achievements” 
        2. Click “I Am Not Adding Any Achievements” 
        3. Click “I Have Reviewed This Information” 
    4. 4. Program Materials 
      1. Click “High School Dual Enrollment” 
      2. Click on the “Questions” tab 
        1. Housing Inquiry 
          1.  Select “I am applying to take dual enrollment courses at a CSU. I understand that, as a dual enrollment applicant, I am not eligible for housing at this campus.” 
        2. Under “Which High School Dual Enrollment program do you want to enroll in?” select your class from the dropdown. 
        3. Save and Continue.

  1. Once all sections of the application are completed and green, click on the “Submit Application” tab. 
  2. Click "Submit"
Tips
  • Fields that have a red asterisk * are required fields and must be filled out. 
  • If there is no Continue or Next button, click on the “My Application” tab at the top to view the whole application, and click on any section to get back into that section. 
  • Clicking on the ‘x’ in the upper right corner will also take you back to “My Application.” 
  • The application will only let you submit if all sections of the application are filled out, completed, and showing green. Click on the “My Application” tab to check if there are any sections that still need to be filled out.
