myCSUSMDuo Setup
If you’re a high school dual-enrolled student taking CSUSM classes, follow the steps on this page to set up the Duo app. This is your second step into college systems.
After you type your password, Duo asks you to approve a notification on your phone or enter a code. This way, only you can log in — even if someone guesses your password.
Duo example: If you log in for homework on Canvas, a message will pop up on your phone — just tap “Approve”.

Student Tips:
-
-
- No smartphone? You can use a tablet device or request a Duo key fob, a small device that gives you codes, from Tech Support.
- Never share your password or Duo codes. If someone asks, it’s a scam. Report it to abuse@csusm.edu.
- Duo can “remember you” for 24 hours, so you don’t have to approve every time.
-
What You'll See When Logging Into Duo
-
-
- Send a push (most common): Duo sends a pop-up message to your phone. Tap “Approve.”
- Phone call: Press any key to approve.
- Passcode: Duo gives you a special number to type in.
-
📌 Want Duo to remember you for 24 hours?
When logging in, check the box that says “Remember me for 24 hours.”
This means Duo will ask you only once a day per device/browser.
Tip: If you switch browsers or computers, or clear cookies, you’ll need to approve
again.
