myCSUSMPassword Setup
If you’re a high school dual-enrolled student taking CSUSM classes, follow these steps to set up your password. This is your second step into college systems. Without your password, you can't get into classes on Cougar Courses/Canvas or emails.
Follow the steps below — it takes about 10 minutes.

Step 1: Create a Password
Your CSUSM username and password allow you to log in to your student account. This is the same account you’ll use for classes, grades, emails and Wi-Fi.

Tips:
-
-
- Your password must be 15-32 characters.
- Don't include personal information such as your first or last name, phone number or address.
- Use a phrase you'll remember (like a sentence with no spaces). For example: ILoveSoccer6581.

Add Backup and Security Steps
Step 2: Add a Backup Email Address or Phone Number
If you forget your password, this step lets you reset it yourself without contacting Tech Support.

-
Step 3: Turn On Extra Security
After you set a password, CSUSM uses a quick security check called two-step login. This ensures that it’s really you logging in and keeps your account safe from hackers.
- You’ll get a pop-up on your phone to approve, or
- You can enter a code from the Duo app.
If you haven't used the Duo app before, click the blue link below for instructions.
