Email Account Setup

If you’re a high school dual-enrolled student taking CSUSM classes, follow these steps to set up your email. This is your first step into college systems. Without accessing your email, you'll miss out on critical communications.

All official messages from the university go to your CSUSM email account.

This is where you’ll get:

  • class information from your professors
  • university announcements and reminders
  • updates about grades, transcripts and financial aid
  • appointment confirmations (advising, tutoring, etc.)

👉 You’ll also use your CSUSM email and password to log in to other systems: MyCSUSM, Canvas, Wi-Fi, study room reservations, FAFSA and more.

When Do I Get My Email?

  • Fall admits: Email accounts are created in April (after you accept admission).
  • Spring admits: Email accounts are created in November (after you accept admission).

Once it’s created, you’ll receive your CSUSM email address at the personal email you used to apply. Your email address will look like this: jsmith001@csusm.edu.

Quick Student Tips

✅ Check your CSUSM email daily — professors and CSUSM will not send class info to your personal email account.
✅ Use your CSUSM email for anything official (professors may not respond to personal emails).
✅ Your email password is the same as your CSUSM account password.
❌ Don’t forward your CSUSM email to a personal account — important messages might get lost.
