The registration-by-appointment period begins on Monday, November 21 at 8:00am.

Emails with unique registration appointment dates and times will be sent to students on the evening of Wednesday, November 9. 

Registration Calendar - Spring 2017

Oct 17-Jan 2

Winter Intersession Registration – Registration period for eligible students begins Oct. 17 and continues until Jan 2, 2017.

  • You may enroll in up to 4 units for the Winter Intersession.
  • You will be assigned a registration appointment which will allow you to enroll in Winter Intersession courses only (note: this is prior to your date to register for the regular academic session for the Spring semester).

Winter Intersession courses begin on Jan 3, 2017. Different fee and refund schedules apply. For detailed information about student fees, adding or dropping courses and refund information, visit the Winter Intersession 2017 webpage.

** Please be aware of the start date of Winter Intersession courses. Course start dates vary over the session.

Nov 9

Spring Registration appointments available to view in MyCSUSM for Spring 2017 regular academic session.

Nov 21 - Dec 2

Early registration period for eligible students begins Nov 21 and continues until Dec 2. All holds must be cleared prior to the registration appointment in order to register for Spring classes.

  • Students may enroll up to 15 units during this time period (note: Winter Intersession units do not count toward the 15-unit limit)
  • Students may waitlist up to 10 units
  • Graduating seniors may enroll up to 19 units
  • Students on Academic Probation may not register for more than 14 units

PLEASE NOTE: Your registration appointment (regular academic session) is a uniquely assigned time and date within the early registration period and is the earliest time and date in which you can begin to register for classes. Please see the Registration Appointment Table for an understanding of your registration appointment time assignment. Your Winter Intersession appointment will only allow you to register for Intersession courses.

Fee Deadlines

  • For classes registered from November 21, 2016 through December 11, 2016 the payment is due, December 12, 2016 prior to 4:30pm.
  • For classes registered on or after December 12, 2016 the payment is due 3 days from registration.

Dec 5, 2016 - Jan 22, 2017

Spring 2017 schedule adjustment period (from 12:01 AM on Dec 5 through 11:59 PM on Jan 22). You may add and drop classes in MyCSUSM.

  • Students may enroll up to 17 units during this time period (note: Winter Intersession units do not count toward the 17-unit limit).

Jan 3

Winter Intersession 2017 –  Winter Intersession courses begin on Jan 3, 2017. Different fee and refund schedules apply. For detailed information about student fees, adding or dropping courses and refund information, visit the Winter Intersession 2017 webpage.

Jan 4

Winter Intersession – Last day to drop a Winter Intersession course with no academic record for the session. Beginning Jan 5 a “W” will be recorded. Withdrawals on/or after Jan 5 may be granted by petition for serious and compelling reasons only.

Jan 16

Last day of classes for Winter Intersession. (Intersession grades will be official with Spring 2017 Grades in May. Grades will be posted and available for viewing as instructors submit and approve grade rosters.)

Jan 20

DEADLINE – Last day to file an Undergraduate Request for Educational Leave of Absence for Spring 2017.

Jan 22

DEADLINE – Withdraw (drop all courses using MyCSUSM until 11:59 p.m.) and receive full refund of fees, less any administrative charge. Students who withdraw after this date will be charged prorated fees for each day that has elapsed from the first day of the semester.

Jan 23

INSTRUCTION BEGINS - First day of Spring 2017 classes that meet the full session of the term and those that meet the first 8-week session (8W1) of the term.

Jan 23

Non-Resident Tuition Due.

Jan 23 - Feb 3

Add/drop period for Spring 2017; adding a course may only be completed in MyCSUSM using a permission number from an instructor; drops may be completed in MyCSUSM from 12:01 a.m. on Jan 23 through 11:59 p.m. on Feb 3.

  • All students can enroll up to 19 units on the first day of class during the Add/Drop period.

Open University registrations for Spring 2017.

** Note - CSU San Marcos is open for Over-60 Program, Cross Enrollment Visitor, Intrasystem Visitor, and Intrasystem Concurrent applications and registrations for Spring 2017. **

Jan 30

Last day to change grading option for classes that meet the first 8-week session of the term.

Feb 3

Last day to drop classes with no academic record for classes that meet the first 8-week session (8W1) of the term, and for full session courses.

Last day to add classes (includes classes that meet full sessionfirst 8-week session (8W1), and second 8-week session (8W2) of the term) with permission numbers or with instructor approval on Course Prerequisite Waiver or Add Form.

Last day to change grading option for classes that meet the full session of the term.

Last day to change from full-time to part-time status.

DEADLINE – Last day to file a Graduate Request for Educational Leave of Absence for Spring 2017

Feb 4

$25 Late Registration and $15 Late Add Fee in effect for all sessions of term.

Drops processed through MyCSUSM will record a "W" on the student's academic record.

Feb 17

CENSUS DAY – End of 20 days of instruction.

Feb 18

Withdrawal from course(s) requires approval and may be granted by petition for serious and compelling reasons only.

Mar 15

Spring 2017 Application for Graduate Graduation deadline. A $15 Late Application Fee will be assessed after this date.

Mar 17

Last day of classes that meet the first 8-week session (8W1)

Mar 18

First day of classes that meet the second 8-week session (8W2) of the term.

Mar 20 – March 25

Last day to change grading option for classes that meet the second 8-week session (8W2) of the term.

Last day to submit Final Exam Schedule Change Request form.

Last day to drop classes with no academic record for a spring class that meets the second 8-week session (8W2) of the term. Withdrawals after Mar 24 for serious reasons only.

Grades due from instructors; last day of spring semester.

After the final grade submission date of May 25, it takes approximately one week to “finalize” grades. This includes running such processes as repeats, incompletes, and academic standing; many additional processes must run to make grades official.

During this window, students may be able to see grades appear via the Student Center as we begin the grade posting process, but grades are NOT considered official: official transcripts cannot be released, and degree awarding cannot begin until after the grading process has been finalized. The estimated finalized date for the Spring 2017 term is Friday, June 2, at 5:00 p.m.
