Use OneDrive and Office 365 to Share Online Files

OneDrive is a cloud based storage solution from Microsoft that allows you to secure files safely that can be accessed anytime/anywhere and on any device. It can also be used to share files with students and for students to share files with instructors. Instructors will login with their full email address. Students will login without "cougars" in their email address. Everyone will go to https://office365.csusm.edu

Create a OneDrive Folder

  1. Login to Office365 online using your CSUSM credentials.
  2. Select OneDrive from the available programs.

  3. Click the New button to display options.

  4. Choose Folder from the drop down menu.

  5. Type the name of the folder then click the Create button.

Create a File in a Folder

  1. Login to Office 365, select OneDrive in the left navigtion onedrive icon in office365 in left navigation, locate the folder, then double click on the folder to open it.
  2. On the navigation, choose New, then select the program

  3. Type the content on the page.
  4. Rename the document by clicking on File on the far left of the screen on the ribbon.
  5. Select Save As then select Rename.

  6. Type the name and click the OK button.

Upload a File to a Folder

  1. Login to Office 365, select OneDrive in the left navigtion onedrive icon in office365 in left navigation, locate the folder, then double click on the folder to open it.
  2. On the top toolbar, click on the Upload option then choose Files.

  3. Search your computer for the file you want to upload. This can be any file type including audio and video files.
  4. Verify the file is showing in the folder.

 Share File from OneDrive

  1. Login to Office 365, select OneDrive, and click the folder to open it.
  2. Roll your mouse over the file name to display the share icon. Select the file share icon.

  3. Click on "people you specify can edit" to expand the options. Select "People in California S...ty San Marcos with the link."

  4. Unselect the "allow editing" option then click the Apply button.
  5. Click on the "Copy Link" button to get the URL to post.

  6. Click the "copy" button and add the URL to your course container in Cougar Courses.

Share a Folder From One Drive

  1.  Login to Office 365, select OneDrive, and locate the folder.
  2. Roll your mouse over the folder name to display the share icon. Select the file share icon.

Edit File Online

  1. Login to Office 365, select OneDrive, and click the folder to open it.
  2. Click on the file you want to edit to open it.
  3. Make edits to the document. It will be saved automatically.
