Captioning Services

CSUSM offers free captioning/audio transcript services for all campus-affiliated videos. There are a number of ways video content may be made available for viewers.

All of these instances MUST be accurately captioned/include audio transcript:

Videos embedded into the campus website (YouTube, Vimeo, etc)
Videos made available in Cougar Courses (Canvas)
Video encoded on DVD disc media
CSUSM-authored podcasts must include transcripts of the audio within the podcast host/player

Processing Times & Rush Requests

Try to submit post-production work with as much advance notice as possible.

If you need captioning before the normal 3 business day timeline, please select rush processing in the form.

Caption Request Form

Executive Order 926 from the CSU Chancellor’s Office requires captioning for all video content intended for general distribution at California State University San Marcos.

Did you know?

Microsoft allows users to auto generate captioning for videos in Stream, Sharepoint, and OneDrive. Just go to the video's settings, select "Transcript and captions" and generate! Once completed the captions will be automatically added to the video, and they can be edited under "Transcript."
