Service Maintenance Completed
Audiences: Faculty  Staff  Students

This weekend’s service maintenance on several CSUSM systems was successfully completed ahead of schedule. All systems are now fully back online and available for your use, including Cougar Courses, my CSUSM and Cougar Apps.

Starting on Monday, November 30, DUO multi-factor authentication will be activated on Cougar Courses and Microsoft Office365. Cougar Apps is already utilizing DUO verification. Duo will also be activated on MyCSUSM for faculty and staff, but not yet for students.

As passwords alone no longer provide adequate protection against cyber hacking, DUO multi-factor authentication adds a second layer of security to your CSUSM accounts. These two-factors of verification include something you know – your username and password, and something you have – a phone with the DUO App or key fob, to authenticate that it is really you in order to gain access to your account.

When signing into campus systems that have DUO enabled, you will be prompted to send a push notification to your registered smart phone for you to confirm your login or you can enter the passcode displayed within the DUO App or on your key fob. More information about DUO and multi-factor authentication can be found on the IITS for You webpage.

As our campus adjusts to using this new security process, our IITS helpdesk team is here to help. During business hours (Mon. – Fri. from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.), you can access live tech support through the Helpdesk Teams Chat or call 760-750-4790.

Thank you for helping to better protect our university data and information.
