Securing the Campus, One Year Later

November 10th, 2021

A year ago today, CSUSM experienced one of the most impactful security events in CSU history. In response, our campus community quickly came together to secure CSUSM through the adoption of DUO and other measures.

Looking forward, IITS is already taking the necessary and additional actions to address the security audit findings and complete our efforts in response to the systemwide security effort. To ensure the campus community is fully aware of the tools that are either deployed on systems you use or may produce noticeably different interactions, we wanted to share with the campus community several changes/improvements.

Phone System Replacement Project

CSUSM's obsolete phone system will be shutdown by December 2021.  The old system is being replaced with Teams calling, and to date, IITS has moved approximately 600 faculty/staff to the Teams phone platform. **Staff who have transitioned to Teams telephones will find that their old desk phones are no longer operational. Teams phone users can make calls using either their computer (like Zoom), smartphone, or use handsets/headsets that IITS has allocated funds to purchase. IITS is offering faculty and staff the choice of one handset or headset.

Request Live & Online Classrooms & Conference Room Upgrades

CSUSM has established a pool of funds to update conference rooms to better support both in person and online participants. IITS will be outfitting conference rooms listed in the R25 scheduling system. If your conference room is not in R25, you can visit the liveonline website and enter the room information to request an upgrade. As classrooms are the priority though the summer, most conference rooms will not be updated until sometime after the start of the fall semester.

Complete the form if you need to borrow equipment or return equipment that is no longer needed/damaged or if you are in need of of an in-person appointment for repair/replacement of CSUSM technology.
