Beginning on September 27th, Zoom will require that all meetings have a Passcode or Waiting Room enabled. CSUSM also recommends that all members of the community consider adopting recommendations from “Best Practices for Securing Zoom Meetings” and review our recommendations links via the section title above.
The Teams new video experience is currently rolling out, which will add important new features to your video calls. The main change is that Teams video calls will now start in a window separate from your main Teams window. Additionally, you can now see up to 49 users on the same screen and use the new Together Mode, which places all participants in the same virtual space.
Teams is adding a new way to start Teams channel conversations. Instead of a chat box like in 1:1 chats, you will see a New Conversation button instead. Clicking this button will reveal the chat box. Visit our Teams Guide for more details on these new features.
This University Student Union & IITS have partnered to offer a much-needed resource that increases equity of access to technology by providing internet, computers, and printing. The USU computer lab will be open to welcome students from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday on a first-come, first-served basis.

Given that most courses are virtual this semester, Cougar Courses has been experiencing near record usage. Currently there are nearly 1,600 active courses on the platform, and between midnight on Monday, Aug. 31, and 10 am Tuesday, Sept. 1, 94.3% (13,489) of all registered students accessed Cougar Courses.
