Multifactor Authentication (MFA)

multi factor authentication processEnrolling in MFA takes 10 minutes and keeps you and CSUSM secure!

What is Multifactor Authentication?

MFA is sometimes called two-factor or 2-step verification. It means that when you log in, you may be required to use an additional step such as entering a code delivered to your mobile phone. It is another layer of protection for your important accounts. Once MFA is activated, you will be required to log in with both your campus password and an additional security measure.

Who will be using it?

Starting with a small pilot group, over the next six months, we will begin rolling out MFA to employees based on the applications they access. Starting with the Common Financial System late this spring, we will enroll staff who access CFS with “Duo”, a multi-factor authentication system purchased by the CSU.

What application will CSUSM use?

CSUSM will be using the DUO application, and will only be rolled out to campus employees. Click here to learn more about this application: Duo Webpage
